Re: rushkoff on colbert
Thu, July 16, 2009 - 12:27 PMit's funny, but this idea of spending money is good for the economy never struck me until Rushkoff said it... I was always like duh, of course I'll spend money, I need food and gas and occasionally beer (okay, often beer) and sometimes movies and new shoes.
But when you contextualize it like he does it's just down right creepy that people actually buy into that bullshit. -

Thu, July 16, 2009 - 1:03 PMi totally expected him to go off on the shrub's morning after 9/11 pep talk...spending is patriotic! wal-mart is terrorism proof! bundle up the kids and credit cards, get out there and spend, spend, SPEND!
but he didn't. -

Re: rushkoff on colbert
Thu, July 16, 2009 - 2:02 PMI'm absolutely positive though his book won't gloss over that. I'm actually more surprised he didn't call Obama and his advisers to the mat for this current round of economic crisis and stimulus; basically propping up the pillars of failed capitalist greed. Then again those pillars just might own his publishers... -

Thu, July 16, 2009 - 6:37 PMand by "nothing" we mean "until things are so bad we're cutting each other's throats for half a bottle of dasani".
good times.
colbert has just steadily ramped up for years and years now. i'd love to see the pie chart of people who get him vs. people who don't. -

I KNOOOW! I was only mildly impressed by his first few episodes. I figured his schtick would run out and he would flop.
I now think he is one of our generation's noblest men and greatest geniuses.
present company excepted. -
